米国時間5月28日、5月29日の2日間、米Googleの開発者向けカンファレンス「Google I/O 2015」が開催される。

Androidをはじめ、Googleが手がけるプロダクトの最新情報が明かされるイベント・Google I/O。昨年の「Google I/O 2014」の場合、当時の次期Androidであった「Android L Release」(現Android 5.0 Lollipop)をはじめ、ウェアラブル機器向けプラットフォームAndroid Wear、健康系アプリケーションGoogle Fit、テレビ向けのプラットフォームAndroid TVなどの重要なプロダクトが発表された。
そして今年の「Google I/O 2015」では、次期Android「Android M」や、Android Wearのアップデートなどが発表されるとみられている。公開当初の公式サイトのセッション紹介ページで「Android M」と明記されたセッションがあったためだが(現在は削除されている)、既に公開されているイベントスケジュール上でも「What's new in Android」というセッションがあり、次期AndroidもしくはAndroidに関する新機能が発表されることは間違いだろう。
「Android M」のほかに噂されている発表内容は下記の通り。
- 自動運転車(Android Auto)、スマートホーム関連
- 「Google Cast」や「Android TV」などリビング向けデバイス関連
- 空間の3Dモデリングを行なう「Project Tango」など仮想現実(VR)関連
- ユーザーが自分でスマホを組み立てられる「Project Ara」
- 写真編集アプリ「Photos」の独立リリース など……。
イベントは日本時間の深夜1時30分から開始。「Keynote」(基調講演)や一部のセッションでは英語でライブストリーミングも行われる。ライブストリーミングを行なうセッションを本記事の最後に一覧でまとめたので、気になるユーザーは参考にしてほしい。
