米Appleが米特許商標局(USPTO)に「IPAD MINI」の商標を申請登録したことが判明した。登録日は11月15日(現地時間)で、同名の登録は今月初めにカナダと欧州でも行われたことが確認されている。
同件はTom's Hardwareが報じている。USPTOへの登録カテゴリは「(4) STANDARD CHARACTER MARK」で、商標の概要は「handheld mobile digital electronic device comprising a tablet computer, electronic book and periodical reader, digital audio and video player, camera, electronic personal organizer, personal digital assistant, electronic calendar, and mapping and global positioning system (GPS) device, and capable of providing access to the Internet and sending, receiving, and storing messages and other data.」と記されている。
「iPad」については過去にも商標絡みでのトラブルに直面しており、iPad miniにおいても少しずつ地ならしをしていく形になるとみられる。
